Stay on track, get stuff done
The vision
Momentum is designed to make managing everyday tasks effortless and stress free. By combining structured task organization, achievement-based motivation, and tailored guidance, Momentum helps users stay on top of their daily routines with ease.
More than just a to do list, Momentum encourages smarter task management, reduces overwhelm, and supports the development of productive habits for the long term. With an intuitive and engaging experience, it transforms daily organization into a simple and rewarding process.
The problem
Managing time, remembering tasks, and setting priorities can be challenging, and many task management apps do not address these difficulties effectively. Momentum is designed to provide an intuitive, streamlined, and supportive experience, making daily task management more accessible and efficient.
The research process
Interviews were conducted with users to explore challenges in managing daily tasks, revealing that many existing task management tools do not fully address their needs. In some cases, these tools may even contribute to increased stress and frustration rather than providing effective support.
Secondary research
Further research was conducted through scientific studies, articles, and community discussions to validate key findings. The analysis highlighted major challenges, including information overload, rigid task management systems, and a lack of effective motivational support.
Affinity mapping
Analyzing the findings and organizing them into categories allowed to structure the information clearly, revealing recurring patterns among users.
Empathy map
During the research, it became clear how essential it is to deeply understand the emotional experiences of the users. Connecting with their daily challenges allowed to make precise design decisions that genuinely support them and provide a user experience custom to their needs and limitations.
The main pain points
User journey map
The journey map provided a view of the experience through the user's eyes, revealing what they do, think, feel, and what frustrates them. It enabled a deep analysis of each stage, action, and emotion users experience throughout their day. These insights became a key foundation for developing a user experience that helps them feel in control and progress in a structured and motivating way.
Competitive audit
After gaining a deep understanding of the challenges and pain points in managing daily tasks, the next phase focused on researching existing solutions. To develop an app that effectively addresses these needs, a thorough analysis of available time and task management tools was conducted, identifying both effective features and potential sources of overwhelm.
The analysis revealed significant gaps in the market, including a lack of flexibility and personalization, cluttered and complex user experiences, and the absence of tailored motivation mechanisms.
These insights underscored the need for a user-friendly, streamlined solution and inspired the development of an interface that simplifies task management in an accessible and efficient way.
Mind mapping
During the app development process, Mind Mapping was used to outline user needs, challenges, and potential solutions. Starting with the core idea, the process expanded to include features, inspirations, screen layouts, and connections between key elements of the user experience. This approach helped identify recurring patterns, establish intuitive workflows, and design a system that is both flexible and focused, ensuring effective task management while preventing cognitive overload.
User flow
visual user flow was developed to ensure optimal alignment of the system's functionality and processes.
Insights from the research process
The research mark the need for a flexible, user friendly interface that reduces cognitive overload, incorporates positive feedback, and fosters consistency. This process was essential in shaping a solution that enhances users quality of life and improves task management efficiency.
Crazy 8's
Following the research and insights gathered, the sketching process began using the Crazy 8's method to rapidly generate a diverse range of ideas. This approach facilitated the exploration of various creative directions and the evaluation of new possibilities.
Low fidelity
Simple and focused wireframes were sketched to facilitate quick idea testing, emphasize structure and functionality, and allow for easy adjustments as needed.
High fidelity
After researching the sketching process and understanding which ideas work best, the next step was moving on to the design process.
Main screen
The main screen displays the user's daily tasks, organized by time of day. Users can add new tasks, filter by categories such as to do, completed or high priority and manage their day efficiently and with focus.

Badges screen
Displays the user's achievements and progress levels. It displays the current level, highlights the requirements for the next level and encourages motivation and consistency.
Level up
This screen highlights the user's accomplishment of reaching a new level, celebrating their success with a summary of completed tasks and total focus time.
Wrap up
To summarize, I’m proud of the process I went through and the results I achieved. With more time, I’d focus on further testing and another round of user interviews to deepen my understanding of their needs and refine the system.
A key takeaway from this project was realizing the importance of separating my own perspective from the users’ experience. Even with my familiarity in the field, collecting focused insights about the users was crucial. This strengthened my understanding of how design decisions are deeply tied to user experience. Good design isn’t just about how it looks, it’s about creating a meaningful and impactful experience for the users.
